Frequently asked questions
What is kompa?
Born in Port-au-Prince in 1955, kompa was created by Nemours Jean-Baptiste by merging Haitian méringue with jazz, Cuban son and Dominican merengue. Its signature: the accordion, the tanbou, interlocking polyrhythms and a bold brass section. Its descendants — rabòday, zouk-kompa, mizik rasin — have conquered the Caribbean and diaspora scenes.
How does the generation work?
KompaMi runs on our V1 engine, specialised 100% in kompa and its styles. You describe, the AI composes two full versions with cover art.
Can I use my tracks commercially?
Usage rights depend on your plan with the generation provider. Tracks can be downloaded as MP3 and WAV; check your plan's licence terms for commercial use.
Can I remix my own voice or an existing song?
Yes: the Remix tab accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC files (8 minutes max). Only upload content you own the rights to.
Which languages can the vocals sing in?
English, Kreyòl (Haitian Creole), French, and Spanish — the four languages of the KompaMi studio. Just mention the language you want in your description or lyrics.
What's the difference with RumbaMI?
RumbaMI is our studio dedicated to Congolese rumba. KompaMi applies the same philosophy — one genre, one expertise — to the Haitian sound: kompa dirèk, kompa love, rabòday, twoubadou, boukan ginen, mizik rasin and more.
